The Elder that Cameron met in the Phoenix airport |
How’s it all going!? Proselyting for the second time went amazingly! M was a guy who we met last time and he was the one who told us that we were doing an amazing thing going around trying to invite others unto Christ. Well this time, we went to his house and clapped in front of the house, and he came out and was super happy to see us. I asked if I could use his restroom so that we could enter his house and get to teach him and because I really had to use the restroom. So, we went inside and it was surprisingly spacious inside! Of course, everything was old but his little house looked tiny from outside. He is a doctor, so he owns one of the nicest houses around our area and it was still tiny and gross compared to a States home. After using the bathroom, we all sat on the couch and he asked us the Golden question... “I´m just curious, what’s the difference between your church and other religions?” We taught him all about the restoration and Joseph Smith (the first lesson) and after hearing it, he was like... “Well, I am glad that I am learning about it from you instead of going off of what I hear from other people. I don´t believe in denying a church, or someone’s beliefs, because of what others say... We then talked about the Book of Mormon and settled some rumors that he heard about it. We taught a simple lesson on the Book of Mormon, using the introduction, and then he said... “I would like to buy one of your books and read for myself to see if what you guys say is actually true...” My companion and I were amazed because that’s exactly what he needed to do. We told him that the Book of Mormon was free. He was super happy when we gave it to him, and he said he would read it. We read to him Moroni´s challenge and he said... “I know that if the Lord wants me to change and He tells me of the truth, then I will change.” He then asked about my family, and who wasn´t Mormon. I told him my granddads conversion story and he loved it and E Devashray told him about his grandpa’s conversion story. We ended with a prayer and it was just amazing how ready this man was to hear the word of God. Now I´m going to email him every week to see how he’s doing! It’s just amazing how the Spirit works in the conversion of a man and how everyone can recognize it if they are trying to change. Through this man’s ability to listen for God’s spirit, and try to change, he has already obtained faith in Jesus Cristo and repentance. The desire to change, with the action of changing, is repentance. Coming unto Christ. I can´t wait for the next set of missionaries to find this guy and dunk him within a week!!!
We weren’t able to see B, the woman who was
really interested and who said she’d be baptized if she learned the truth
because she wasn't in our area... I know that the Lord will place others in her
path to help her to continue on the path of righteousness and happiness just
like He placed us in her life!
Two more weeks and I get to go to Uruguay! It’s crazy that i have already been here for a month! Hope all is well.
Love,
Elder McRae
