Wow.... the heat got here. I'm in the cyber
(place with a bunch of computers) and there’s no AC... sweat is dripping
everywhere and my arm keeps slipping in the sweat on the desk close to the
mouse.
How are things going with my comp?
AMAZINGLY!!! Probably the best Christmas present that President could give me.
E' Rampton's a stud and we've gotten so much done this week and I forgot how
fun the mission can be. We have not been able to stop laughing and we're loving
our new zone members. This change is going to be amazing! Christmas, my B-Day,
going to the temple (maybe twice... I'll talk about that later), New Years and
all with E' Rampton. He's from Nevada. Went to BYU I before the mission. Is an
out doorsman (reminds me of Uncle Dan). We tell bathroom jokes, give hugs and
drip dude sweat every morning as we work out (HARD). He's super excited for
this change and basically was in the same situation as me last change... just
waiting for his companion to die (mission speaking). He was already here in T
Bo and loves it.
So the day of changes was pretty tough. I
didn't get to sleep at all. I cleaned the house and E' Marín washed HIS dirty
dishes. He asked if I wanted to clean the kitchen or the bathroom and I chose
bathroom out of the kindness of my heart. While I was scrubbing the toilet with
my old toothbrush he was finishing up with cleaning his dishes. I seriously
cleaned the entire house without help. At midnight, E' Marín left and gave me
all of the papers, letters and other things he forgot to do.
I was with E' Hartvigsen while waiting for E'
Rampton to get there and we stayed in the terminal for a long time. When E'
Rampton got here. we gave each other hugs, immediately started talking about
Rivera, and went home with his stuff. Other missionaries were going to be
getting there in like an hour so E' Rampton was like, ''lets go to work! The
three of us.'' I was thinking to myself,'' THANK YOU! someone who wants to
work!'' E' Hartvigsen, E' Rampton and I had a great lesson with an investigator
and by the time it ended we had 15 minutes to get to the terminal. We had two bikes
and three people so E' Hartvigsen and E' Rampton got on one bike and made it
work. We got there just in time and we couldn't stop laughing at how we looked.
It was just the best start to the change.
We talked about a bunch of stuff and told
stories all night like I would do with E' Neilson. The next day we had to go
get the mail (I don't remember if I told you but we have to pick it all up and
take it to the stake center on bikes). E' Rampton had a big box of Books of
Mormon while I had the bag with all the letters and two packages for E' Hartvigsen.
He struggled at first. We took five minutes in the middle of the road trying to
figure out how to make it work. I offered help and he was like...''I will
learn... this is a battle for PRIDE now, Elder'' He dropped it a couple of
times and said he felt like an idiot. We then had to go get the sheet music for
the practice for the charla fogonera. E' Rampton asked me if I had ever crashed
and I said, ''luckily, no.'' The week before it rained a bunch and ruined my back
breaks (they didn't break very well). So when we were going back to the stake
center, I was holding the papers in my left hand I couldn't break with my front
breaks. I looked back to see if E' Rampton was ok cause it’s hard adjusting to
bikes at first. When I looked back I had turned a bit and there was a hole in
the street. I quickly avoided the hole but when I turned I was headed for a
parked car. I calmly pressed the back breaks and ended up not stopping and
crashed in between a tree and the car (luckily I didn't hit the car! or hurt
myself). I noticed that my back breaks didn't work at all even when I pressed
really hard so I was just going to use my front breaks (that I never used). E'
Rampton laughed after asking if I was alright. We continued down the street
that has NO STOP SIGNS but all of the sudden a motor cycle makes a quick stop
for no reason. I press my front breaks hard and go flying over the
top...crashed two times in two minutes. I was furious of course and asked, ''what
the heck is going on!?'' E' Rampton replies, ''Hey at least your front breaks
work(:'' The district meeting went well. We played a getting to know you game.
We stuck a pin in a Nurf gun bullet and shot at balloons (there was a gospel application).
When you pop the balloon, you had to recite one of our BELIEFS and had to
present yourself. When the dart got stuck into the wall we realized...yeah
probably not the best idea to have missionaries play with that. But it was fun.
It was a very humbling morning! But I loved it!
We had other activities together. I got to do
service with a young man in the ward named “An”. We moved a bunch of bricks
from one place and stacked them in another place. We were cracking jokes with
the kid and he loved it. Later that day, “An” left with us to do visits for the
first time and he loved it. He went to go pick up the investigators on Sunday
and thanks to him, we had three new investigators in church!
We buried a pipe that was sticking out that
we had always hit, break and shoot water everywhere by using a piece of wood
this morning. Small dumb things that make the mission so much more enjoyable!
On Sunday we all had fun learning the new songs. It was kind of stressful
because the fireside was going to be the 14th but now it’s the 21st so we have
more time to practice.
Things are going so much better for the ward,
zone and everything. We fasted the other day and it was the best fast I had
done in my life. E' Rampton helped me stay more focused on the fast and we said
a lot of prayers. He said that any time we felt thirsty (the main problem) we
had to pray and ask for strength from God beause the thoughts ''I'm thirsty''
''I want water'' and all that are thoughts of Satan that distract us from our
purpose of fasting. It was awesome.
We ate lunch with one of his old converts
today (because he started his mission here in the Lopez ward). They invited us
to go to their sealing. They're getting married this Friday and Saturday. Our
ward is going to the temple this Saturday and we're going to ask President if
we can go. If we can it is going to be amazing!!!
Well...I'm loving life right now. I will do
that for Brother Darrow. Please find out about the name because we're going to
the temple next week. I loved the soccer picture. I can't believe that they
won. I would have loved to be there. Thanks for everything and I'm looking
forward to writing about next week!
E'
Rampton and I sweating to death in the cyber, so we need to go.
LOVE
YOU!!
