So this week went super well. We have been working with an
old man named “Iz” who said he wants to get baptized but he didn't go to
church. It's still the hardest thing to do (get people to just go to church).
But we've seen progression. My district has been improving but some of the
missionaries aren't working as many hours with members and they should be
getting. So in my district meeting, we talked about a lot of the things that we
can do to help the members take part in the work of the Lord. I felt strongest
to discuss Home Teaching and Visiting Teaching. The church here really doesn't
do their home/visiting teaching. We talked about experiences we have had with
home/visiting teaching and why the Lord has commanded that we do this. I
discussed a few experiences about home teaching with Granddad, my visits in
college and stuff like that. Others gave awesome experiences and we went on to
talk about the huge difference that we would see in our wards here if we implemented
HT/VT. We all felt the spirit!
We had an amazing ward council meeting also. Bishop seems to
be feeling a lot better (since his father died) and we talked about what has
been going on while he was out for a couple weeks. He was amazed when we told
him about the three new families that we have going to church and was even more
surprised when more than 100 people went to church. I brought up my HT/VT idea
and he loved it so now it is up to E Neilson, Hno Hornos (Pte quarum de
elderes) and I to get everything included in the computer. It’s been crazy this
past week with interviewing Hermanos, setting up the members together, and
giving us 3 companions each with 3 families each to home teach. The Hermanas
have also had to work with the Relief Society president and we have already
seen the results of actually having somewhat of a program. Like the bishop
said, if we can get our organization as close to the format of the Lord's we
will see many positive results. I'll let you know how that goes.
Also, in ward council they said that they want us to
teach about Family Search. I have never once done anything in looking for my
dead family members because I thought that with Granddad, Grandpa Seaman and
Grandpa Merideth, the work back to Adam and Eve should already be done and found.
But I went onto my account and found out that my tree only goes to Granddad!!!!
I thought, oh, well maybe it just shows the obvious and not what other family
members have done. But then Elder Neilson got on (never having used Family
Search either) and his tree went back to the 1500. So my question is...what the
fetch?! How come nobody has done family history? Or what's the explanation?
I've heard stories about Grandpa and all that but there is no information on
mine? Have you guys done anything? Is there a different family search program
that I don't know about? Cause it was awesome this program! I'll be looking
forward to the explanation.
Well I have nothing else to write about. Still doing
missionary work, still in Rivera and I still love it. Hopefully Elder Neilson
lets me email his friends/family so that I have something to do while he's
emailing the whole world. Love you all.
