9.1.14

Hey,

This week went amazingly! I wish I could write it all down. We had 101 people in church and had 4 investigators ACTUALLY GO! People have baptismal dates and I am just now seeing this area explode like it is supposed to (I’m so afraid I know what that means... I'm gone next change.). This is the last week of the change... I'm terrified. I don't want to leave. The bishop and are basically lost without each other and I don't want to lose all that has been gained. We work so well as a ward. Bishop took our advice on the Home Teaching and Visiting Teaching. Yesterday he talked about it in front of everyone. Bishop says that he has never seen this ward so alive. With us and the Hermanas working the way we're working, we'll easily reach all of the ward's goals. I know how other wards are. I know I will go where the Lord wants me to go but I'm scared I'll go back to a ward whose organization is struggling...

Here are some things that I wrote to President about this week:

We've been working a bunch in this new area, close with the bishop and ward members. We asked our Elder's quorum leader for a reference and to join us to teach them. We entered into their neighbor's house and talked to Alicia (mother of 3 children) about the restoration. She loved the lesson and asked if we could baptize her daughters. We talked about how she, too, can be baptized and she has nothing against it but she'll have to stop working on Sundays. But yesterday, her daughters came to church with the Hornos family and loved it.
We also received a referencia from the bishop and have been leaving with him to do visits. We got a woman who hasn't gone to church for years to go and she brought her husband who isn't a member! OUR BISHOP IS SUCH AN AMAZING TEACHER. He has put us in charge of asking you for help in coming up with a choir at the end of the year. Yesterday, we passed out Books of Mormon to every ward member with a letter inside about how they are going to complete this next challenge. We will be focused on not only giving a Book of Mormon, but also FOLLOWING UP! Bishop says he hasn't seen as much success as he is seeing in so long. We are planning on having UNA TARDE BLANCA on the 27th of September. 6 people will be baptized by 6 priests. One will be Christian baptizing his girlfriend, Robert (one of the youth that has changed so much and preparing to serve a mission) will baptize one of Alicia's daughters and Geraldo (our recent convert) will baptize Alicia. The Hermanas will be having some baptisms as well. Every member will start reading the 4 Gospels (Mateo, Marcus, Lucas, Juan, 3Nefi) by the end of the year while following up on the people to whom they have given the Book of Mormon. But all of this will be preparing people to come unto Christ this Christmas. It will be ending with a huge choir event that will be taking place. Bishop has already got some of the local high schools to participate and a bunch more!

My buddy Spencer went through the temple!!! Gosh. I would have loved to be there with him! I wanted to ask you something about BYU soccer but I forgot...I'm sure you'll keep me up to date with what’s going on. Or maybe I don't need to know. But thanks for everything!!!

Love

E' McRae
